There are things you have to do beforehand, especially when this is a bariatric surgery NY. To prepare for this treatment, here are helpful tips to bear in mind.

First, make some preparations for the things you are to bring to the hospital. There are clothes you need to pack for after you have gone through your treatment. You should pick out the comfortable and loose clothes to pack since they are easy to get in and out of. There is no need for you move or bend too much.

The same thing should be considered when you are packing your shoes. As much as possible, you must find shoes that you can easily slip on. This way, you do not need to bend down just to tie the shoes. If you need to bend down, then that can be extremely painful. It can also get in the way of proper recuperation.

Transition clothing, shoes, and the likes are important after the procedure so you better prepare them. The transition clothing are those old clothing that you can no longer fit into. While that might be the case, those transition clothing will be quite perfect for you as you lose weight. Remember that after the procedure, you will be losing weight dramatically.

You will be needing enough multivitamins for your aftercare. This is so that you can supplement that lacking vitamins you will become unable to receive directly after you have received your treatment. This is really necessary. To know what multivitamins to get, you better ask the doctor what you should prepare beforehand.

Over-the-counter medication that works against pain must be prepared beforehand as well. You might run out of your prescribed pain medication. If you do not take any substitute, you will surely suffer a lot from the post-op pain. Thus, the over-the-counter medication can work wonders for you after you have taken the operation.

You should stop smoking. As much as possible, stop smoking two to four weeks before going through your treatment. Otherwise, you will be experiencing post-op complications afterward. Also, your doctor will most likely refuse putting you under the knife when he or she finds nicotine in your system. After all, that can be really dangerous.

Having someone stay by you after the treatment is a given. This is the person who will be handling things like physical support and small errands. This person can do things around the house like light cleaning or laundry in your behalf. They have to stay by your side for at most two weeks after you have gone under the knife.

Read up on your procedure. It would do you good to be well-educated on the procedure. That way, you will know exactly what to expect before, during, and after the procedure. You have to talk to others who have gone through the same thing as well. If you can, you might want to join a support group for this too. You can get valuable information from these resources.
